Who Needs Root Canal Treatment?

If the pump of a person's teeth becomes infected or gets injured, it won't repair itself, which will lead to the tissues dying. Without Root Canal Treatment, there are high chances of the infection spreading. Eventually, the affected teeth become loose and always require extraction, which is basically what the Root Canal Treatment in Lahore is. Some patients don't opt for this extraction. However, if the decay is large in size or there is loss of bone due to gum or periodontal disease, extraction is necessary to ensure good dental health.

How Painful Is The Treatment?

One of the common fear people have about root canal treatment is that it is painful. However, when the treatment procedure is carried out by the dental surgeons at Dental Aesthetics, it is relatively less painful. If there is any pain, that is because of the infection and not the treatment itself. Our dentists relieve the pain of the treatment procedure by numbing the patient's tooth and its surrounding area using local anaesthesia. Feeling slight tenderness post-treatment is normal and temporary. Taking an over-the-counter painkiller will be enough to relieve the pain.

What Are The Treatment Steps?

Root canal treatment is completed in three steps and it takes 1-3 visits to our dental clinic. Initially, the dentists at Dental Aesthetics begin with cleaning the root canal, which involves removing everything that is within the root canal. While the patient is under anaesthesia, a slight access hole is made on the surface of the tooth to remove the dead pulp tissue. After that, the hollow area is cleaned, shaped, and decontaminated using irrigation solutions and small files. Then, the dentist fills the tooth with a rubber-like material and seals the canal with adhesive cement. When the treatment is complete, the patient no longer feels any pain in the affected tooth.

How To Manage Post-Treatment Pain?

Over-the-counter painkillers are sufficient to relieve the pain after a Root Canal Treatment. However, we advise the patients to only use the painkillers according to the instructions and prescription of our endodontists and visit Dental Aesthetics immediately if the pain does not go away. Other than that, as an aftercare, it is advised to avoid biting and chewing food using the affected tooth until it has completely healed. Moreover, practicing a good oral hygiene routine that includes regular flossing and brushing is also important.
